MARRIAGE OF CHARLES II AND CATHERINE OF BRAGANZA, 'THE GOLDEN MEDAL', silver medal, 1662, by J.Roettier. Laureate, long-haired armoured bust of Charles II, profile right etc., rev. bust of Catherine, right, with hair tied back and strings of pearls etc.
This was probably 'The Golden Medal' commemorated by Waller in his poem - 'Our guard upon the royal side/ On the reverse our beauty's pride!'

Group A, first bust in coronation robes, bust 1a with flatter, single-arched crown. mm.lis (1625).

Some flat areas on the reverse but a full portrait on a broad flan with a touch of colour.

YORK MINT (1643-4), mm.lion. Type 5. EBOR below horse, crowned, square-topped shield between C R.
Slight wobble in the flan as usual with these productions and a few tone spots. A little metal stress and gently cleaned but with some sharp details - I think this coin will look quite nice when patinated.
